Our mission is to encourage a sense of wonder — to evoke contagious enthusiasm for life-long learning, and to instill creativity and respect for others and nature.

Our forty acres includes housing options, a modern log classroom building, and trails wandering through diverse ecosystems.  You may stay a day, a weekend, a month, or anywhere in-between.  Consider a personal retreat, come with family or friends, or rent the classroom for your business meeting or the class or workshop that you lead or teach. 

The Rivendell Retreat is both a location and a state of mind. Perched at 6300 feet elevation on the edge of Redlands Mesa, it has mind relaxing views of the West Elk and Raggeds Wilderness areas, the distant San Juan mountains, and the orchards of the North Fork Gunnison River valley.

As with its namesake in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings—secluded and welcoming —Rivendell is a quiet place to find peace with nature and self, among forests, streams and wildlife.

Guests from across the country & around Colorado have been enjoying Rivendell since 1998.
